Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The flammability was determined by measuring the burning rate of test material prepared as a pile of set dimensions.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)

Test material

Details on test material:
- Name of test material (as cited in study report): Hydroxyphosponoaceic acid, trisodium salt (TK13061/2)
- Physical state: Solid (white powder)
- Lot/batch No.: LIC 613/04
- Storage condition of test material: Room temperature in the dark

Results and discussion

Pyrophoric solids
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
corresponding to 'no' in migrated source record.
Pyrophoric liquids
Test procedure:
ignition time on contact with air
Remarks:
Ignition on contact with air refers to either Pyrophoric solids or Pyrophoric liquids depending on physical state (migrated information).
Remarks on result:
no ignition on contact with air (not further specified)
Remarks:
corresponding to 'no' in migrated source record.

Any other information on results incl. tables

In preliminary screening tests, the pile failed to ignite during the two minutes that the bunsen flame was applied. Due to the preliminary result, there was no need to perform the main test.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
Trisodium [carboxy(oxido)methyl]phosphonate has been determined to be not highly flammable as it failed to ignite in the preliminary screening test.
