Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Flammability:
The flammability of a substance is determined following the method N.1 (UN-manual of testing) or A.10 (EU-method). But in accordance with section 2 of REACH Annex XI, a study is technically not possible as the substance is a liquid. The flammability of a liquid is described by the flash point.
Contact with water
The flammability of a substance on contact with water is determined following the methods N.5 (UN-Manual of testing) or A.12 (EU-method). However, in accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically unjustified. The structural composition of the test item contains none of the functional groups quoted in Manual of Tests and Criteria, appendix 6, article 5.3).
Pyrophoric properties:
Pyrophoric properties are determined following the methods N.3 (UN-Manual of testing) or A.13 (EU-method). But in accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, a study does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically not necessary. Experience in production or handling shows that the substance does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures (i.e. the substance is known to be stable at room temperature for prolonged periods of time).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is not yet classified in the Annex I of Directive 67/548/EEC. According to the information summarized in this below, no classification on flammability is needed:

- As liquid, the flash point is 177°C;

- As liquid, no boiling point could be observed up to decomposition of the substance at 210°C;

- No pyrophoric property, based on experience from production and handling;

- It does not liberate flammable gases in contact with water based on structural formula.

Based on the data summarized above, Poly[oxy(methyl-1,2-ethanediyl)], .alpha.-hydro-.omega.-[[3-[[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]amino]-1-oxo-2-butenyl]oxy]-, ether with 2-ethyl-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol is also not flammable according to GHS (Regulation EC 1272/2008).
