Executive summary:

In this study (2012), the determination of the boiling point of the test item was performed using a differential scanning calorimeter according to the regulation EU A2 and OCDE 103 guideline.

The reaction mass of potassium trifluoromethanesulfinate and potassium trifluoroacetate has a boiling point of 104.9 ± 0.1 °C.

Endpoint:
boiling point
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which melts above 300°C

Description of key information

The result of the chemical reaction of the manufacturing process is a solution (approximately 36%) in water which has a boiling point of 104.9 ± 0.1°C.

Determination of the boiling point of the reaction mass as a powder form does not need to be conducted as no melting point was observed up to 600°C

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One reliable experimental study on the aqueous solution of the reaction mass of potassium trifluoromethanesulphinate and potassium trifluoroacetate is available. This study has been performed according to the OECD Testing Guideline 103. The result obtained is 104.9 ± 0.1°C. Determination of the boiling point of the reaction mass as a powder form does not need to be conducted as no melting point was observed up to 600°C
