Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

This endpoint is filled from data from an acute toxicity test of the test substance RAV 7NG to Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), investigated according to EU Method C.1.

Juvenile Rainbow Trout were exposed in a static test to aqueous test media containing the test item at various concentrations under defined conditions. The concentrations of the test item were verified by analysis. The recorded effects were mortality and sublethal effects of the test fish. Based on the test results the 96 hour LC50 of RAV 7NG for Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was determined to be 1.362 mg test item/L based on nominal concentrations. The no observed effect concentration (NOEC) was determined to be 1.1 mg test item/L and the LOEC was determined to be 2.0 mg test item/L, both values also based on nominal concentrations. Additionally supporting data from 'diallyl 2,2'oxydiethyl dicarbonate' from two adequate fish toxicity tests (Sousa, 1982; Ward,1982b) are given. The 96 hours LC50 values for 'diallyl 2,2'-oxydiethyl dicarbonate' in freshwater and saltwater species are 0.57 mg/L and 0.707 mg/L, respectively.

Since RAV 7NG contains as main ingredient 'diallyl 2,2'oxydiethyl dicarbonate', the experimental data from this substance were used in a read-across approach.

Justification for read-across from supporting substance RAV 7AT (diallyl 2,2'-oxydiethyl dicarbonate; CAS 142-22-3; EC 205-528-7): about 70 % of RAV 7NG (EC 700-483-4) consists of components that can be found in the commercial ADC grades known as RAV 7AT, Nouryset 200 and CR39. Merely from comparing the similar production processes of these two substances it is apparent that RAV 7AT and RAV 7NG are closely related to each other.  Finally, the physical-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological properties of RAV 7NG and RAV 7AT are almost equal and as a result, read across is justified.
