Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

Biodegradation: Coconut oil, reaction product with polyethylene glycol and trimethylolpropane is "readily biodegradable".

Bioaccumulation:

The BCF and BAF of all main component are very low, the BCF are between 3.162 and 122.5 L/kg ww regression-based method using the program BCFBAF v3.01 (Part of US EPA EPI Suite v4.00). In addition, a BAF and BCF (upper trophic) are beween 0.8933 and 33.94 calculated using the method of Arnot-Gobas.

The low BCF/BAF values indicate a low potential of the test item Coconut oil, reaction products with polyethylene glycol and trimethylolpropane for bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms.

Hydrolysis:

In accordance with REACH Annex VIII column 2, the study for the whole test item does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable.

Constituents: Hydrolysis rate constants cannot be estimated for 1,2,3-Propanetriol and 2-ethyl-2-(hydroxymethyl)propane-1,3-diol. The Kb Half-Life at pH 8 of the main consituents Fatty acids, coco, esters with trimethylolpropane, Fatty acids, coco, ethoxylated and Glycerides, C12-18 mono-, di- and tri- were between 129.295 days and 2.331 years. The Kb Half-Life at pH 7 of the main consituents Fatty acids, coco, esters with trimethylolpropane, Fatty acids, coco, ethoxylated and Glycerides, C12-18 mono-, di- and tri- were between 3.54 and 23.313 years.

Adsorption/desorption:

The Soil Adsorption Components of the main components 2-ethyl-2-(hydroxymethyl)propane-1,3-diol and 1,2,3-Propanetriol are very low, indicating a very high soil mobility potential, the Soil Adsorption Components of the main components Glycerides, C12-18 mono-, di- and tri- and Fatty acids, coco, ethoxylated are low, indicating a high soil mobility potential and the Soil Adsorption Components of the main component Fatty acids, coco, esters with trimethylolpropane are high until medium, indicating a medium until low soil mobility potential. The Koc are between 0.1345 - 729.6 L/kg. Therefore altogether it can be concluded that the adsorption of Coconutoil, reaction products with polyethylene glycol and trimethylolpropane is low.
