Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The log Pow for Marlon ARL was calculated according OECD Guideline 107 and determined to be 0.7 at 20 °C. Published reports of a guideline fish BCF study concluded the test substances (i.e., various mixtures of C10-C13 LAS which are the primary constitutent of Marlon ARL and therefore read across substances) have relatively low bioaccumulation potential in the aquatic environment. The publically available 2006 OECD SIDS document contains information from 2 bioaccumulation tests in fish with members of the hydrotrope category (the 2nd constituent of Marlon ARL and therefor read across substances). In both tests the measured BCF value was reported as less than 2.3 L/kg.

Additional information

In the published report of a 1997 OECD Guideline 305E flow-through fish test with 4 mixtures of C10-C13 LAS, the fsh BCF values ranged from between 2 and 987 L/kg, with BCFs increasing with increasing alkyl chain lengths. Only one of 20 measurements was above 500 L/kg and only 5 were above 100 L/kg.
