Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The toxic potential of the substance on the growth of algal species Selenastrum capricornutum was evaluated in the study conducted in accordance with EPA OPPTS 850.5400. Exponentially growing algal cells were exposed for a period of 96 h to 31.25, 62.5, 125, 250, 500, and 1000 mg/l (nominal concentrations). All the test solution concentrations were within the solubility limit of the substance. Routine water quality characteristics (pH, dissolved oxygen and conductivity) were measured on these test solutions prior to their use in the test. The cell densities were measured at 24 h intervals. Inhibition of the algal population was measured as reduction in growth relative to control.

No significant reduction in algal growth response was observed in any of the test treatments; therefore, the test substance is of minimum phytotoxic concern and definitive testing is not necessary. No toxic effects were observed against algae at up to highest tested dose of 1000 mg/l.

NOEC (96h) =1000 mg/l (nominal) and EC50 (96h) >1000 mg/l (nominal) for growth rate
