Description of key information

High quality NOEC/L(E)C10 values for chronic toxicity to freshwater fish are based on three fish species, Pimephales promelas,Oncorhynchus mykiss, and Brachydanio rerio. The NOEC or EC10 values that have been carried forward for the HC5-& PNEC derivation range between 40 and 134 µg Ni/L.
Chronic toxicity EC10 values are reported for two marine fish species and range from 3,599 μg Ni/L fto 20,760 μg Ni/L and have been carried forward for the HC5-& PNEC derivation.

Marine:

Chronic toxicity values are reported for two marine fish species. EC10 values range from 3599 μg Ni/L for growth of the topsmelt, Atherinops affinis (Hunt et al., 2002), to 20760 μg Ni/L for growth of the sheepshead minnow, Cyprinodon variegatus(Golder et al., 2007).
