First-aid measures

Inhalation: If experiencing any discomfort, immediately remove from exposure. Light cases: Keep person under surveillance. Get medical attention immediately if symptoms develop. Serious cases: Get medical attention immediately or call for an ambulance.

Skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing and footwear and wash with water and soap. Get medical attention if irritation develops.

Eye contact: Immediately rinse eyes with much water or eyewash solution, occasionally opening eyelids, until no evidence of chemical remains. Remove contact lenses after a few minutes and rinse again. Get medical attention if irritation persists.

Ingestion: Let the exposed person rinse mouth and let him/her drink several glasses of water or milk, but do not induce vomiting. If vomiting does occur, rinse mouth and give fluids again. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media : Dry chemical, carbon dioxide, water spray or foam. Avoid heavy hose streams.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture : The essential breakdown products on combustion are hydrogen fluoride, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide, methyl mercaptan, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and various fluorinated organic compounds.

Advice for firefighters : If appropriate, keep fire-exposed containers cool with water spray. Fight fire from maximum possible distance. In case of large fire, firemen should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Use personal protection equipment depending on the magnitude of the spill.

Environmental precautions : Do not release to the environment.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up : Spills on the floor or other impervious surface should be swept up with an absorptive material such as universal binder, hydrated lime or absorbent clay. Collect the contaminated absorbent in closable container for disposal. Wet clean area with detergent and water

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling : Avoid inhalation. Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid excessive contact with skin or clothing. Avoid repeated or prolonged contact.

Always wash hands with water and soap after handling.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Storage in refrigerator is recommended.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal exposure limits : Not established.

Respiratory protection : Provide local exhaust ventilation system.

Protective gloves : Wear chemical resistant gloves such as barrier laminate, butyl rubber, nitrile rubber or viton if much manual labour with the substance is required.

Eye protection : Wear safety glasses. It is recommended to have an emergency eye wash fountain immediately available in the work area, if the possibility of eye contact exists.

Other skin protection :Wear appropriate chemical resistant clothing to avoid skin contact.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity                                         No special reactivities are known.

Chemical stability              The substance is stable during normal handling and storage at ambient temperatures.

Possibility of hazardous reactions       None known

Conditions to avoid              Heating of the substance may evolve harmful and irritant vapours.

Incompatible materials              None known

Hazardous decomposition products       The essential breakdown products on combustion are hydrogen fluoride, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxi                                                                                 de, methyl mercaptan, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and various fluorinated organic compounds.

Disposal considerations

Remains and unclean packagings should be treated as hazardous material. Waste can be disposed of by removal to a licensed chemical destruction plant or by controlled incineration with flue gas scrubbing. Do not discharge to sewer systems.

Disposal of waste and packagings must always be in accordance with all applicable local regulations.
