The fate and pathways in the environment for the target substance (Reaction products of diphosphorus pentaoxide and alcohol C7-9-iso, C8 rich, salted with 2-ethylhexylamine) were investigated experimentally concerning biodegradability in water (screening test). Supporting information is given for this endpoint by the read-across substance (Phosphoric acid, mono- and di-(C8 -C10) ester, compds. with C12 - 14 amine). Both substances were found to be not persistent in the environment and the target substance may be considered as readily biodegradable under enhanced conditions.

Further investigations concerning biodegradability as well as information about the phototransformation in different compartments, Henry´s Law constant, distribution modelling, bioaccumulation (aquatic and terrestrial), field studies and monitoring data are not required.

The hydrolytic stability as well as the adsorption coefficient (Koc) of the target substance could not been determined experimentally. The main functional groups are salted alkylated phosphate and a salted amine, which will not readily hydrolyse at environmentally relevant pH and temperature values. Therefore, the target substance (Reaction products of diphosphorus pentaoxide and alcohol C7-9-iso, C8 rich, salted with 2-ethylhexylamine) is considered as hydrolytically stable.

The High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) screening method, which would be used for the Koc determination would not generate a representative result for the surface active target substance. The read-across substance was investigated for its Koc in accordance with OECD Guideline 121, resulting in a logKoc range < 1.25 - 3.69 (Lumsden, 1999). The adsorption coefficient (Koc) is therefore in the range < 17.8 - 4930.
