4,4’-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene) is not classified as a toxic substance (T) based on available reliable data for toxicity of4,4’-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene) to fish, invertebrates and algae. The water solubility of 4,4’-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene) was experimentally determined to be ≤ 4.4 x 10-7g/L and it was not possible to reach concentration levels in the available fish, invertebrate and algae studies that might be toxic to aquatic organisms. Consequently, and the L(E)C50 values for the available fish, invertebrate and algae studies were all greater than the limit of solubility in the test media. Therefore, 4,4’-(1-phenylethane-1,1-diyl)bis(heptyloxybenzene) is classified as Potentially T as laid down in Annex XIII of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 since toxicity cannot be ruled out based on acute data only, but realistically the substance should be considered non-toxic to aquatic organisms.
