Description of key information

The acute toxicity of the substance to Daphnia magna was determined under static conditions and in accordance with OECD Guideline No. 202 and GLP.  The 48h-EC50 was calculated based on mean measured concentrations to be 0.30 mg/L. The study was concluded to be reliable with restrictions.

A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of the substance to Daphnia magna under static conditions. The study was conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 202 and GLP.

Groups of twenty daphnids (less than 24 hours old) were exposed for 48 hours to five concentrations of the substance prepared as dilutions of a saturated solution prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/L and a control. The incidence of immobilisation was recorded for each test and control group at 24 hours and at 48 hours. The measured concentrations decreased to 27 - 84% of initial at the end of the test (t=48h). The geometric mean measured concentrations were calculated to correspond to 0.12, 0.34, 0.89, 2.6 and 7.0 mg/L for the 1.0, 2.2, 4.6, 10 and 22% dilutions of the saturated solution, respectively. The 48h-EC50 was calculated based on mean measured concentrations to be 0.30 mg/L. The study was conducted without deviations that influence the quality of the results. However, since the analytical method used did not meet all validation criteria, the resulting measured concentrations of the test item in the test medium can only be taken as indicative. The study is concluded to be reliable with restrictions as the order of magnitude of the measured concentrations is considered to be trustworthy.
