Endpoint:
auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
From July 2016 to May 2017
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.15 (Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases))
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
the maximal temperature tested was 554 °C instead of 600 °C due to an oven disfunction. This deviation was not considered to have affected the quality or the interpretation of the results obtained.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)

Taking into account the results obtained in the preliminary assay, no main test was performed.

Conclusions:
No auto-ignition temperature was observed up to 554 °C (corrected value).
Executive summary:

The determination of the auto-ignition temperature of test item was performed according to the Commission Regulation (EC) N° 440/2008 A.15 method.

The test is repeated at different temperatures (from about 100°C to about 600°C) until the minimum value of the ignition temperature was observed

No auto-ignition temperature was observed up to 554 °C (corrected value).

Description of key information

One reliable study is available for this endpoint. In this study, the auto-ignition temperature of the test item was determined accordingly the EC A.15 method. The study was GLP compliant.

As a result, only a preliminary test was performed since no auto-ignition temperature was observed up to 554 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
