In the test using the Siwoloboff method the sample was observed to darken significantly by the time the temperature had reached 397°C. Bubbles were formed during the test but a consistent stream was not observed until after the test item had significantly darkened in appearance at 397°C.

Based on these observations, a DSC profile was generated to confirm thermal decomposition. The onset of decomposition at approximately 340°C was observed. The test item was initially described as yellow liquid and the material had turned into an amber crystalline melt during the DSC analysis at a heating rate of10°C/minute.

Conclusions:
The boiling temperature of triglycerides, C16 and C18 (unsaturated) could not be determined as the test item decomposed at temperatures above approximately 340°C.

A study to determine boiling point of the test item, triglycerides, C16 and C18 (unsaturated), was conducted according to OECD 103 and EC A.2 guidelines. The boiling temperature was initially assessed by the Siwoloboff method using a calibrated digital melting point apparatus. Due to visual signs of decomposition, the test item was also assessed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).

The boiling temperature of the test item was not determinable as the test item decomposed at temperatures above approximately 340°C.

The study was conducted according to standard guidelines and is GLP-compliant and therefore is considered as reliable without restrictions.
