Additional information

The constituents of the submission substance are expected to hydrolyse moderately to rapidly to form substances which have low log Kow values (<3) and thus have low potential for bioaccumulation. In addition, the constituents of the substance have low predicted log Kow values of <3. Therefore, in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the bioaccumulation in aquatic species study does not need to be conducted.

A measured BCF study is available for 3-aminopropyl(triethoxy)silane (CAS 919-30-2) which hydrolyses rapidly to form 3-aminopropylsilanetriol (Silanol HP-Z) and ethanol. A steady-state BCF value of 3.4 was determined in a reliable study conducted according to an appropriate test protocol, and in compliance with GLP. The test material supplied by the sponsor was easily hydrolysed in aqueous solution forming 3-aminopropyltrihydroxysilane. Therefore, it was considered that the test organisms are exposed to the 3-aminopropyltrihydroxysilane hydrolysis product (silanol HP-Z).
