Description of key information

For the evaluation of the auto-flammability the UN Test N.4 was excecuted. Based on this key study result and according to the criteria specified UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria the substance Nickel speiss does not meet the criteria of Division 4.2. On the basis of the key test results and according to the criteria specified in the CLP-/ GHS Regulation the substance Calcium Stannate is not a self-heating substance. Based on the DSC results and the experience of BAM with similar substances the sample Nickel speiss does not fulfill the criteria of the test method A.16 "Relative Self-ignition Temperature for solids" according to the Regulation (EC) No 440/2008.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For the evaluation of the auto-flammability the UN Test N.4 was excecuted as key study. The sample was tested as delivered. The ability of a substance to undergo oxidative self-heating was determined by exposure of it to air in cubic sample container of 25 mm and 100 mm side length, made from stainless net at temperatures of 100 °C, 120 °C or 140 °C.Based on the test results and according to the criteria specified UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria the substance "Nickel speiss" (II.23/25081/01) does not meet the criteria of Division 4.2 "Self-heating substances" because a negative result is obtained in the test using the 100 mm cube sample at 140 °C. On the basis of the test results and according to the criteria specified in the CLP-/ GHS Regulation the substance "Nickel speiss" is not a self-heating substance.

Based on the DSC results and the experience of BAM with similar substances the sample Nickel speiss does not fulfill the criteria of the test method A.16 "Relative Self-ignition Temperature for solids" according to the Regulation (EC) No 440/2008.
