Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The adsorption/desorption coefficient of polysulfide di-tert-nonyl has been read across from polysulfide di-tert-dodecyl. As no reference data were available with results above the obtained value, the log Koc of the test substance has been extrapolated to a value of 8.5.

These substances are polysulfides, characterised by hydrocarbon compounds containing one or more groups of atoms of the element sulphur linked together by covalent bonds. Given that the partition coefficient for the two substances is very similar, with polysulfide di-tert-nonyl having a log Kow of >5.2 and polysulfide di-tert-dodecyl having a log Kow of >6.2, it is expected that the substances would behave similarly in the aquatic environment. Therefore, read across between the polysulfides for adsorption/desorption is considered to be justified.
