Description of key information

Determined in 3 sandy soils the Koc of Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid), the hydrolysis product of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester, was in the range of 135 - 167. The lowest Koc of 135 is used for further assessment as a worst case assumption. Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) has a low sorption potential to soil and sediment, and a moderate migration potential to groundwater.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:

Additional information

The adsorption coefficient of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester was measured using the HPLC method (log Koc 5.3 at 25°C).

However, Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester hydrolyses rapidly in natural water. Therefore, the hydrolysis product Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) was used for further risk assessment of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester in the environment.
