Description of key information

With Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester no toxic effects against fish were observed at the limit of water solubility under exposure conditions. The determined 96h-EC50 was >1 mg/L.
For Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid), the hydrolysis product of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester, a 96h-LC50 of 76 mg/L and a 96h-NOEC of 42 mg/L were determined.

Additional information

Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester hydrolyses rapidly in natural water. Therefore, the hydrolysis product Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) was used for further assessment of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester with respect to toxicity to fish.

Several studies with various species are available Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) and Mecoprop-P dimethylamine salt (MCPP-P DMA). Therefore only those data with most sensitive value available for the hydrolysis product of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester was chosen for further assessment.
