Description of key information

Daphnia magna was exposed under semi-static conditions for 21 d to nominal concentrations (0.1, 0.32 and 1 mg/l) of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester. No toxic effect was observed at the limit of water solubility under exposure conditions. The obtained 21d-NOEC was >= 1mg/L.
For Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid), the hydrolysis product of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester, a 21d-NOEC of 22.2 mg/L was determined for toxicity to reproduction on Daphnia magna.

Additional information

Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester hydrolyses rapidly in natural water. Therefore, the hydrolysis product Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) was used for further assessment of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester with respect to toxicity to reproduction on Daphnia magma.
