Description of key information

Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester showed 7.4 % respiration inhibition of activated sludge at the highest concentration of 1000 mg/l. An EC10 and an EC50 of >1000 mg/l were obtained in this test. The effect value relates to nominal concentration, since no analytical monitoring was performed.
For Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid), the hydrolysis product of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester, a 17h-EC50 of 170 mg/L and a 17h-NOEC of 12 mg/L were determined on Pseudomonas putida.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
170 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
12 mg/L

Additional information

Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester hydrolyses rapidly in natural water. Therefore, the hydrolysis product Mecoprop-P acid (MCPP-P acid) was used for further assessment of Mecoprop-P n-octyl ester with respect to toxicity on Pseudomonas putida related to growth inhibition.
