PTSI is not stable under environmental conditions. No hydrolysis testing has been performed with PTSI as this is technically not feasible. The substance is extremely reactive with water. Upon contact with moisture, it reacts immediately to form p-toluenesulfonyl amide (PTSA) and carbon dioxide. Testing for hydrolysis of the decomposition product PTSA has also not been performed, as this substance was found to be readily biodegradable.
