Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
12 - 21 September 2006
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
see below
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The standard EEC A6 Method was not applicable due to the extremely high solubility of the test material. It was therefore not possible to prepare samples at five times saturation level as specified in the guideline. Therefore a number of individual samples were prepared at increasing nominal concentrations and the solubility determined by visual assessment of the resulting solutions. The shaking and equilibration times used replicated those used for the longest shaking sample in the EEC A6 Method, in an attempt to retain as many test parameters from the guideline as possible.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Water solubility:
> 79.4 other: % (w/w)
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
5.6 - 6.2
Details on results:
The sample concentration, observations on completion of the 20°C equilibration period and the solution pH are shown in the Table below.

Time equilibrated at 20°C (hours)  Concentration (g/l)  Solution pH
49.8  Non-viscous, pale straw coloured, clear homogeneous solution. No excess, undissolved test material remained.   5.6
2 59.4  Non-viscous, pale straw coloured, clear homogeneous solution. No excess, undissolved test material remained   5.7
3 70.0  Non-viscous, pale straw coloured, clear homogeneous solution. No excess, undissolved test material remained  5.9
79.4  Non-viscous, pale straw coloured, clear homogeneous solution. No excess, undissolved test material remained  6.2
Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): very soluble (> 10000 mg/L)
The water solubility of the test material has been determined to be greater than 79.4% w/w of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5°C by visual assessment.
