Description of key information
Flammability: not classified
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- not classified
Additional information
The flammability study is not required for liquids as flammability is assessed on the basis of flash point. However, sustained burning of liquid mixtures and sustained combustibility tests were carried out and it was found that the substance was not considered to support combustion.
There is no indication on the basis of chemical structure and experience in handling and use that the substance is pyrophoric (flammable in contact with air) or flammable in contact with water.
Therefore, in accordance with Section 1 of REACH Annex XI, there is no need to conduct further flammability testing.
In a sustained burning of liquid mixtures study according to ASTM D4206 -96 (2013), the registered substance was considered not to support combustion under the conditions of the experiment.
In addition, in a sustained combustibility study according to UN Test L.2 (Part III, Section 32.5.2), the registered substance was considered not to support combustion under the conditions of the experiment.
Justification for classification or non-classification
A flash point of 60°C and a predicted boiling point of 210°C has been obtained, however since the measured flash point is 60°C at 1013 hPa an additional sustained combustibility study was performed. Under the conditions of the sustained combustibility study the registered substance did not support combustion. Therefore, the substance does not meet the criteria for classification as a flammable liquid and vapour according to the criteria of Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
