Description of key information
The 21 Day EC5, EC10, EC20 and EC50 of methyl undecylenate for reproduction in D. magna was concluded to be greater than the maximum achievable solubility of methyl undecylenate, under test conditions. The NOEC was determined as greater than the maximum solubility of methyl undecylenate.

The study was conducted over a 21 day period under semi-static conditions, with test solutions renewed at daily intervals. Ten replicate vessels were prepared for each treatment group, each containing one Daphnia magna neonate. The study was performed to meet the requirements of OECD (2012) Guideline 211
Based on the results of a range finding test, the reproduction test was conducted with solutions prepared as dilutions of a saturated solution of methyl undecylenate (nominally 5 mg/L). The exposure concentrations were nominally 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100% saturation, plus an untreated control. Analytical samples taken on Days 0, 13 and 20 for fresh test solutions indicated that concentrations of methyl undecylenate were variable with concentrations being quantifiable on Days 0 and 13 only. Analytical samples taken on Days 1, 14 and 21 for expired test solutions indicated that methyl undecylenate was present at levels below the limit of detection (LOD = 2.77 µg/L). Methyl undecylenate was not detected during analysis of control samples. Results throughout this report are based on nominal saturation levels. Undissolved methyl undecylenate was not observed in the test vessels throughout the test period.
In the calculation of mean number of offspring per D. magna,offspring from adults which had died previously were omitted. The first offspring were observed on Day 7 at all test concentrations, including the control.
The lack of adult immobilisation in the test vessels and lack of a reduction in offspring produced, compared with the control, indicated that methyl undecylenate has no effect on D. magna survival and reproduction over a 21 day period, under test conditions. The 21 Day EC5,EC10, EC20 and EC50 for reproduction in D. magna was concluded to be greater than the maximum achievable solubility of methyl undecylenate, under test conditions. The no observed effect concentration (NOEC) was determined as greater than the maximum solubility of methyl undecylenate.
During the test, test solution quality parameters were within the following ranges: pH: 6.66‑8.50; temperature: 19.6-21.3°C and dissolved oxygen concentration: 36.2-98.0% of air saturation value. Temperature and dissolved oxygen remained within protocol limits throughout the duration of the reproduction test. The pH of test solutions was slightly outside protocol specification.
