- PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION (especially for difficult test substances)
- Method: Stock solution I was prepared by dissolving 20 mg test substance in tetrahydrofuran to a final volume of 50 mL (conc. 400 mg/L). Stock solution II was prepared separately for each test concentration by mixing different volumes of stock solution I with tetrahydrofuran. To prepare the test solutions, the stock solutions were diluted by mixing 500 microL stock solution II with 5000 mL dechlorinated water

One study is available on the short-term toxicity of 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-tridecafluorooctyl 2-chloropropenoic acid ester (CAS 96383-55-0) to fish. The study was conducted according to OECD guideline 203 and GLP (Niikura, 2012). The test organism Oryzias latipes was exposed to the test substance under semi-static conditions at test concentrations of 0.000362, 0.000652, 0.00114, 0.00216 and 0.00350 mg/L (mean measured) for 96 hours. As the test substance is poorly soluble in water, tetrahydrofuran was used as a solvent for the preparation of the test solutions. At the end of the exposure period no mortality or abnormal behavior were observed up to the highest attainable test concentration. Therefore, the LC50 (96h) is determined to be above the highest attainable test concentration, corresponding to a measured value of > 0.0035 mg/L.
