Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 115 (Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
plate method
Surface tension:
51.358 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
0.25 mg/L
Conclusions:
The surface tension of FAT 40075/D was determined to be 51.358 mN/m at room temperature ca 20 °C.
Executive summary:

The determination of the surface tension of FAT 40075/D was based on OECD Guideline No. 115: “Surface Tension of Aqueous Solutions” (1995) and on the EEC Directive 92/69, Part A, methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A5 “Surface Tension”, EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992. The determination of the surface tension was accomplished by means of a Tensiometer, using the Wilhelmy Platte method.

The test item was measured with a 0.25 % (w/w) solution. Based on the findings of the study, the surface tension of FAT 40075/D was determined to be 51.358 mN/m at room temperature ca 20 °C. The variation of specification factor was 0.012568 mN/m.
