Description of key information

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex IX section 9.4.1, terrestrial toxicity studies are not required for the following reasons:

- the substance is readily biodegradable. The substance will be biodegraded within the STP process and as a consequence a transfer to the soil compartment is not expected;

- with a Koc value at 569, the substance does not have a high potential to adsorb to soil;

- according to section R.7.11.5.3., Chapter R.7c of the ECHA Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment (version 2.0, November 2014), the substance should be classed as a soil hazard category 1, and thus, the Equilibrium Partitioning Method (EPM) has been used as a screening assessment, for assessing the hazard to terrestrial organisms. Based on a conservative estimation from Chesar, all RCR soil were lower than 1. Therefore, no toxicity testing for soil organisms is needed. The chemical safety assessment of the substance indicates no need to investigate terrestrial testing.
