Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

In the Klimisch 1 GLP study from Kimmel (2013) the toxicity of disodium (Z)-4-(9-octadecenylamino)-4-oxo-2(or 3)-sulphonatobutyrate (a light beige powder) to Desmodesmus subspicatus was determined in a static 72-Hour Algal Growth Inhibition Test. The test was performed according to OECD 201 and EU Method C.3. The nominal concentrations of the test item of 1.0, 3.2, 10, 32 and 100 mg /L) were tested in parallel with a control. Dose verification analysis was performed . The measured concentrations of Disodium (Z)-4-(9-octadecenylamino)-4-oxo-2(or 3)-sulphonatobutyrate in the test media of the test concentrations of 3.2 to 100 mg test item/L were between 83 and 109% of the nominal values at the start of the test and between 67 and 120% at the end of the test. The lowest concentration of nominal 1.0 mg test item/L was below the limit of quantification (LOQ = 1.17 mg test item/L) and therefore ½ the LOQ was used for calculation. The measured concentrations were 0.59, 2.7, 9.8, 34.6 and 102.4 mg/L. In order to determine the growth of the cultures, the cells were counted using a coulter counter. The cell density was determined at 0, 24, 48 and 72 hours. The growth of the control cultures fulfilled the validity criteria from OECD 201 (2006). The 72 -hour ErC10 and ErC50 are 33 and 113 mg/L based on the mean measured concentration.
