Description of key information

The acute toxicity to fish (Pimephales promelas) of 3-hydroxy-2-(3-hydroxy-2-quinolyl)-1H-inden-1-one was tested in a static test. After 96 hours of exposure a TL50 (the concentration at which 50 % of the experimental animals survive) of >180 mg/L was observed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of 3-hydroxy-2-(3-hydroxy-2-quinolyl)-1H-inden-1-one to Pimephales promelasunder static conditions. The study was conducted in accordance with APHA. AWWA. WPCF. Standard Method for the Examination of Water and Wastewater. 13th ed. American Public Health Association. INC. New York (1971).

After 96 hours of exposure a TL50 (the concentration at which 50 % of the experimental animals survive) of >180 mg/L (nominal) was determined. This concentration is far above the tested 3 -hydroxy-2 -(3 -hydroxy-2 -quinolyl)-1H-inden-1 -one water solubility of < 0.026 mg/L.
