Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

In the Klimisch 1 key study from Bütfering (2012) the oxidizing properties of the test item Reaction products of ricinoleic acid with 2-aminoethanol and maleic acid and sodium hydrogensulfite was determined according to EU Method A.17 (Oxidising Properties (Solids)). Prior to testing the test material was grinded and mixed with cellulose. The mixtures of 10 to 20 % sample : cellulose showed after ignition by a gas burner only a very slow smouldering reaction for a distance of 50 mm in about 10 minutes. The mixtures of 30 to 90 % sample : cellulose showed smouldering on the spot without progression of the reaction zone. The burning time of the reference substance was 329 s for 200 mm.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Because the reference substance has a faster burning time than the fastest burning time of the test item, the test item has no oxidizing properties according to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 EEC. Hence, classification is not needed.
