Additional information

Reliable results from one study on the acute toxicity of DBU (CAS 6674-22-2) towards fish are available. A 96-h acute toxicity study was performed under static conditions according to German Industrial Standard DIN 38412, part 15, using Leuciscus idus as test species (BASF AG, 1987, report no. 10F0064-965074). The 96 -h LC50 was determined to be 146.6 mg/L (nominal; geometric mean; pH not adjusted). The toxicity was reduced in a pH-adjusted test solution (1000 mg/L, nominal). The test concentrations were not analytically verified. However, DBU proved to be stable in other studies (e.g. see IUCLID Chapters 6.1.3 or 6.1.5); in addition, the substance is assumed to be stable due to the substance's high water solubility is 1000000 mg/L (BASF SE, Rep. No 11L00314, 2013), its moderate vapor pressure (VP = 0.03 hPa @25°C, BASF SE, Rep. No 11L00314, 2013) and its low Henry's Law Constant (HLC = 0.195 Pa m³/mol, HENRYWIN v3.20, BASF SE 2017).

It is reasonable to conclude that DBEA is with high probability acutely not harmful to fish (96-h LC50 = 146.6 mg/L; BASF AG, 1987).
