Description of key information

Hydrolysis product 4-tert-butylcyclohexanol: Acutely harmful to aquatic algae.
Hydrolysis product HCl: Acutely very toxic to aquatic algae (pH dependent).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There are no data available concerning the parent compound. With the hydrolysis product 4 -tert-butylcyclohexanol, the key study comes from a EC guideline study with the green alga Desmodesmus subspicatus. The resulting 72 -h ErC50 was 45 mg/L (HPV Dossier, 2006).

The hydrolysis product HCl showed acutely very toxic effects due to the low pH: 72 -h EC50 = 0.492 mg/L (OECD, 2002).
