Short-term toxicity to fish
Administrative data
- Endpoint:
- short-term toxicity to fish
- Type of information:
- experimental study
- Adequacy of study:
- key study
- Study period:
- 2006
- Reliability:
- 2 (reliable with restrictions)
- Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
- other: see 'Remark'
- Remarks:
- QAU mentioned, but no GLP Statement. Test above water solubility. Analytical phase report in Chinese. Even though no evaluation of analytical data is possible, results are scientifically reliable. No toxicity occurred and the same result is expected when testing at water solubility limit. Semi-static test design was chosen which guaranteed a relatively constant exposure level.

Test material
- Reference substance name:
- Soybean oil, epoxidized, reaction products with methanol and water
- IUPAC Name:
- Soybean oil, epoxidized, reaction products with methanol and water
- Details on test material:
- The substance was tested by the test house using a trade name that is considered confidential business information. The name assigned to the substance has therefore been changed to Cargill BP-A.
Constituent 1
- Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Details on properties of test surrogate or analogue material (migrated information):
Not applicable
Sampling and analysis
- Analytical monitoring:
- yes
- Details on sampling:
- The dissolved oxygen concentration, the pH and temperature in the controls and the test solutions should be measured once daily and at the beginning and the duration of the test.
Test solutions
- Vehicle:
- yes
- Details on test solutions:
- Prior to each test medium preparation on Days 0, 1, 2 and 3, the test medium with the nominal concentration of 100 mg/L was prepared by weighting 300 mg of the test substance into 3 L of test water with 300mg Tween-20 solvent.
Test organisms
- Test organisms (species):
- Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)
- Details on test organisms:
- Brachydanio rerio which was obtained from Amazonas Commercial Aquarium, Shanghai were held in our laboratory for 12 days without any medication. Prior to the test start, they were acclimated for one week under conditions of water quality and illumination similar to those used in the test. During holding and acclimatization until one day before the start of the test the fish were fed with a commercial fish diet. During holding and acclimatization no fish died in the test fish batch and all fish were healthy.
From the acclimated test fish batch, 10 fish were measured at the start of the test: The mean body length of the fish was 2.0±01 cm (Mean ± SD), and the mean body weight was 0.10 ± 0.01 g (Mean ± SD).
