Additional information

The available literature study on Direct Red 81 was used as a key study and an LC50 value of > 180 mg/l was derived.

In the Clariant study of 2002 a similar substance was tested on freshwater fish at the limit dose of 100 mg/L. At this concentration no adverse effects were observed, so an LC50 value >100 mg/L was derived.

In Synthesia study of 2001 another similar substance was tested and based on the test conditions an LC50 value of > 100 mg/l was derived.

The conclusion that DRED81 is not toxic to fish is confirmed by the key study and by the supporting studies available.
