Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Freshwater:

Reliable chronic toxicity data was gathered for one higher plant, i.e., for Lemna gibba, non-normalised chronic toxicity values as 7 days EC10 varied between 1310 µg Zn/L (endpoint growth weight) and 2120 µg Zn/L (endpoint frond number).

Marine:

Chronic toxicity data were retrieved for two marine macro-alga species, i.e., Ceramium tenuicorne and Macrocystis pyrifera, with 7 days chronic toxicity data (for the endpoint growth) varying between between 7.7 and 18 µg Zn/L for C. tenuicorne and 2 day chronic toxicity data (for the endpoint growth) of 190 µg Zn/L for Macrocystis pyrifera.

Additional information

Extensive high quality chronic data were available on 1 freshwater plant species and 2 marine macro-algae species. These data were all screened for relevancy to the environment under study.

The freshwater species belongs to the Araceae (Lemna gibba).  The marine species belong to the Rhodophyta (Ceramium tenuicorne) and Orchrophyta (Marcrocystis pyrifera).
