Test guideline
- Qualifier:
- according to guideline
- Guideline:
- EN 15051-2 (Workplace exposure. Measurement of the dustiness of bulk materials - Rotating drum method)
- Deviations:
- no
- GLP compliance:
- not specified
- Type of method:
- rotating cylinder
- Sampling:
- Sample amount: 15 g
The sample was divided in eight equal lots using a rotary riffler, this rotary riffler is especially designed to minimize the loss of any fine dust. One of these divided lots has been used for determining the bulk density and the moisture content.

Moisture content: 0.55 m/m%.
Bulk density: 376 kg/m3
Sample 1115C01 has a clearly high dustiness potential for all three fractions with 34094 mg/kg for the inhalable fraction, 8104 mg/kg for the thoracic fraction and 875 mg/kg for the respirable fraction.
The average relative standard deviation (RSD) of the intra RSD is typically below 17 %. The relative standard deviations obtained for the independent measurements are all below 5 % and are thus within the range of RSD values typically found for this methodology, confirming adequate sampling.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Sample 1115C01 is classified as high for all 3 fractions (inhalable fraction, thoracic fraction and respirable fraction).
- Executive summary:
The dustiness of Sample 1115C01 was determined by EN 15051-rotating drum (method 2).
