Use of MPD does not include direct application to the soil and an indirect exposure to soil via sewage sludge transfer is unlikely since the substance is readily biodegradable. For a substance being considered as readily biodegradable, it can be assumed that it will be biodegraded within the STP processes and as a consequence a transfer to the soil compartment is not expected. Furthermore, as the log Koc is below 3 and the substance has no cationic properties, a low adsorption potential is indicated. Therefore, binding to sewage sludge is unlikely and as a consequence a transfer to the soil compartment is not expected. Tests on terrestrial organisms are considered unnecessary. Terrestrial toxicity endpoints were waived according to REACH Annex IX Section 9.4 Column 2 because direct and indirect exposure of the soil compartment is unlikely.
