Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a 28-day biodegradability study, microorganism in activated sludge were exposed to tetra-n-propylammonium bromide (TPAB) at nominal concentrations of 0 (Blank control and positive control), 10 and 20 mg/L (nominal concentrations).
The criterion for ready biodegradability (at least 60% biodegradation within a 10-day window) was not met since only 6 and 5 % of the test substance was biodegraded at test day 29. Therefore, tetra-n-propylammonium bromide (TPAB) is classified as not readily biodegradable. The present toxicity study is classified as reliable without restrictions since it satisfies all the requirements of OECD Guideline No. 301 B.
