Description of key information

An acute dermal irritation study was performed in accordance with OECD guideline 404 and an eye irritation test was performed according to OECD guideline 405. Studies were undertaken before GLP guidelines were in place. Both studies are well documented and reliable without restrictions (score 1).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin irritation / corrosion

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not irritating)

Eye irritation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not irritating)

Additional information

Skin irritation/ corrosion:

An acute dermal irritation test was performed according to OECD guideline 404. No substance related effects were seen.

Eye irritation:

An eye irritation test was performed according to OECD guideline 405. All three animals had conjunctival redness at 24 hours, which was completely reversible within 14 days. At 7 days after instillation, the chemosis had completely disappeared in all three rabbits. Adverse effects on the cornea and iris were not observed in any of the rabbits during the entire observation time.

Justification for selection of skin irritation / corrosion endpoint:
This data set is the only information available. Study was performed in accordance with current OECD guideline and is well documented.

Justification for selection of eye irritation endpoint:
This data set is the only information available. Study was performed in accordance with current OECD guideline and is well documented.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Baed on these data, TPAB can be classified as non-irritant to the skin and is not irritating to the eye, according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
