Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A calculated soil adsorption coefficient, log Koc of 1.78 (Koc = 60.3), was taken as representative for 1,2-dichloropropane.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
60.3

Additional information

Soil adsorption coefficients (Koc) for 1,2-dichloropropane have been calculated using various equations based on the relationship between Koc and either water solubility or octanol-water partition coefficients. Reported values for Koc range from 46.9 to 299.14. The value calculated using PcKocWIN, a widely accepted quantitative structure activity relationship developed for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, was taken as the key parameter (Koc = 60.3; log Koc of 1.78). 1,2-Dichloropropane is not expected to adsorb significantly to organic matter in soil, sediment, or suspended solids in wastewater or surface waters. The low Koc value suggests that 1,2-dichloropropane would be expected to have high mobility in soil.
