The logKow of the test substance ranges from 2.7 - >6.5. QSAR calculations of the BCF have been performed with representative structures of the components. The resulting BCF values are between 17.84 – 20300 for rosin maleated, 5413 - 1.124e+00 for TOFA, 3257 - 6861 for TOFA maleated and 19080 for Rosin, respectively.

Low discharge and lack of aqueous solubility suggest that direct and indirect exposure is unlikely. Conducting an experimental study on the whole UVCB would not be technically feasible because of the complexity of the measurements required.


The complexity of the test substance and its components hampers the calculation of an accurate value for the BCF. The model used (Arnot-Gobas, part of BCF-BAFWIN) is not based on the logKow. Nevertheless the ranges as calculated are very wide. In a worst case approach a value of 20000 is chosen. The very low water solubility will however prevent exposure of aquatic organisms to a large extent.
