Additional information

If silicon orthophosphate is released into the aquatic environment, it dissociates rapidly to give silicon and phosphate ions (relevant pH values range from 4 – 9). The tetravalent silicon ion and the phosphate ion will then react with the media to form different silicon and phosphate species indistinguishable from natural dissolved silica- or phosphorus species. Neither silica species, nor aqueous phosphate has been assessed as bioaccumulative, nor are expected to be (OECD SIDS, 2004; OECD SIDS, 2009).
