Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance proved to be readily biodegradable (87% biodegradation after 28 d) and is fulfilling the 10-d window criterion.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The ready biodegradation of hexanoic acid, 3,5,5-trimethyl-, tin (2+)salt (2:1) was investigated in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 F and EU Method C.4-D over a period of 28 days and using non-adapted activated sludge as inoculum. The test item proved to be readily biodegradable and is fulfilling the 10 d-window criterion (87% biodegradation after 28 d). The functional control reached the pass level >60% after 14 d. In the toxicity control containing both test and reference item 62% biodegradation based on ThOD occurred within 14 d thus indicating that the test item was not inhibitory at the concentration tested. All validation criteria of the guideline were fulfiled.
