Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistence:

Based on weight of evidence evaluation from two valid studies, both DL-Menthone enantiomers and DL-Isomenthone enantiomers can be considered as readily biodegradable in various mixed compositions. The reaction mass of isomenthone and trans-menthone hence does not fulfil the "P/vP" criterion.

Bioaccumulation:

The log Kow of the substance is 3.05, which is clearly below the trigger value of log Kow = 4.5. The substance hence is not "B/vB".

Toxicity:

The EC10 values in the algal study is clearly greater than 0.01 mg/L and the LC50 and EC50 values in the acute aquatic toxicity studies are clearly greater than 0.1 mg/L. The substance is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction. The substance does not have specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure. The substance therefore is not "T".
