In the test medium and the blank control vessels of the 24-h pre-test @ 100 rpm at pH 6 and pH 8 the concentration measurements for silver, arsenic, copper, nickel and lead were below the corresponding limits of detection.

pH 6

In the blank corrected test item vessels 24-h pre-test @ 100rpm at pH 6 no amounts of dissolved arsenic have been detected. Low concentrations of silver (0.06 μg Ag/L) and nickel (1.59 μg Ni/L) have been measured with a coefficient of variation of 14% and 20% respectively. The highest metal concentrations were measured for copper (41.3 μg Cu/L) and lead (70.6 μg Pb/L), with a coefficient of variation of respectively 29% and 30%. The coefficient of variation of copper and lead exceed the quality criterion of 20%.

pH 8

In the blank corrected test item vessels 24-h pre-test @ 100rpm at pH 8 no amounts of dissolved arsenic and nickel have been detected. A low concentration of silver (0.04 μg Ag/L) was measured with a coefficient of variation of 26% which exceeded the quality criterion of 20%. The highest metal concentrations were measured for copper (9.66 μg Cu/L) and lead (28.9 μg Pb/L) with a coefficient of variation of respectively 23% and 27%. The coefficient of variation of copper and lead exceeded the quality criterion of 20%.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The worst case pH defined in this test is pH 6. Silver, copper, nickel and lead are the only elements which showed dissolution above detection limit and may be important in the design of a full test for classification purposes. The results can be assumed reliable because the test conditions stayed constant during the experiment.
