First-aid measures

(a) Skin Contact: Remove contaminated clothing and wash effected areas thoughly with soap and water. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice / attention
(b) Eye Contact: Irrigate eyeball thoroughly with water for at least 10 minutes. If discomfort persists get medical attention.
(c) Ingestion/Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Wash out mouth with water. Get medical advice /attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Any, type to be selected according to meterials stored in the immediate neighborhood.
Special risks: Non-flammable. May decompose if exposed to high temperatures within a fire, to release toxic gases. Keep containers cool with water spray.
Special protective equipment for fire fighting: Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection.

Accidental release measures

In cases of accident, procedural and/or control technologies must be used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposure during purification or cleaning and maintenance procedures
Clean up small spills immediately to keep workplace tidy. Collect into appropriate bin/drum for recovery. Wash away residues to floor sumps with plenty of water or clean up dry residues using a vacuum cleaner.
Inform supervisor of a serious spillage.
Avoid release to the environment. Prevent entry to sewers and public waterways. Notify authorities if product enters sewers or public waters.

Handling and storage

Only properly trained and authorised personnel must handle the substance
Substance-handling procedures must be well documented and strictly supervised by the site operator
When handling these process materials, make correct use of local exhaust ventilation (LEV) equipment, such as filter hoods and dust booths etc as set out in the Operation Procedures.
Wear recommended RPE according to the Operating Procedures. It is particularly important when handling dry materials to avoid generating dust.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The substance must be rigorously contained by technical means during its whole lifecycle including manufacture, purification, cleaning and maintenance of equipment, sampling, analysis, loading and unloading of equipment or vessels, waste disposal or purification and storage
Procedural and control technologies must be used that minimise emission and any resulting exposure
Only properly trained and authorised personnel must handle the substance
In the case of cleaning and maintenance works, special procedures such as purging and washing must be applied before the system is opened and entered
All process plant is contained and fitted with the necessary fume and dust extraction. Ensure all process plant is operated in accordance with the Operating Procedures.
Wear PPE as set out in the Operating Procedures.
The Refinery has been assessed and registered against the requirements of BS-OHSAS 18001:2007.

Stability and reactivity

Non-flammable but may be decomposed on heating to produce toxic gases.

Disposal considerations

Where waste is generated, procedural and/or control technologies must be used to minimise emissions and the resulting exposure during purification or cleaning and maintenance procedures
Because of high value of the material do not dispose, but collect in suitable bins/drums for recovery
Retain empty bins/drums for future use.
