Description of key information

The key study is a GLP-conform study by Wenzel et al. (2017; Klimisch 1) on the effect of NaVO3 on the growth rate of Lemna minor, according to OECD 221.The EC10s for growth rate were derived with 16,700 and 12,800 µg V/L based on frond number and frond area, respectively. Corresponding EC50s for growth rate amount to 49,200 and 34,400 µg V/L based on frond number and frond area, respectively. Thus, based on frond area, the lowest 7-d ErC10 and ErC50 for growth rate are 12,800 and 34,400 µg V/L, respectively. All results are based on total dissolved V concentrations.

Reliable marine toxicity data are not available.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater plants:
34 400 µg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater plants:
12 800 µg/L
