Description of key information

Testing for biodegradability in surface water according to OECD 309 classifies the substance as vP. ECHA Guidance R.11 (V 3.0, p. 53) states that β€œThe P/vP assessment should cover all three (five) environmental compartments (water, marine water, sediment, marine sediment, soil). However, a substance can already be concluded as P or vP if the criteria are fulfilled for one compartment only. For the purpose of reducing efforts of testing, the test should be selected in such a way that it reflects the worst case of persistence potential.” As stated in ECHA decision number SEV-D-2114341466-49-01/F "surface water seems to be a compartment of concern". For this compartment the vP criterion was now confirmed, triggered by the der constituent 2,2'-Dimethyldiphenylether (CAS 4731-34-4) for which a DT50 of 63d was established. Thus, additional testing of the soil compartment is rendered uneccesary.
