Description of key information

The effective concentration (EC 50 ) value of diiodohydroxyquinoline in Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata in a 72 hr study on growth effect was estimated to be 10.39058 mg/L. But the BCF value of diiodohydroxyquinoline reported was not >= 500 as well as the substance was found to be rapidly degradable. Thus considering the CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance , it is concluded that diiodohydroxyquinoline could not exhibit short term toxicity to aquatic algae

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
10.391 mg/L
